Gregory Gilbert’s career highlights

Three-year starter at linebacker and end for the Austin Black Bears 1982-1984

Austin went 31-6 in Gilbert’s three varsity seasons

Named All-State linebacker and member of the Alabama Sports Writers Association Super 12 team in 1984

Four-year letterman at linebacker for the Alabama Crimson Tide 1985-1988

Drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fifth round of the 1989 NFL draft

Ronald Grantland’s career highlights

All-County basketball player at Cotaco in 1965

Shot 90 percent of his free throws (115-127) in 1964-1965 season

Received Alabama High School All-Star Award in 1965

Played on the first basketball team at Calhoun Community College

Elected twice to the State of Alabama legislature

Leo Gray’s career highlights

All-Conference selection in baseball, football and basketball at *Decatur Negro High School

Played two seasons of basketball at Tuskegee

Played four seasons with the Indianapolis Clowns baseball team

Charter member of the Decatur Rough Riders semi-professional team

Played semi-professional baseball with the Decatur Nationals

Wayne Ridgeway’s career highlights

Starred in basketball, baseball, football and track and field at Decatur in 1949-1952

Named to All-State Tournament teams in 1951 and 1952

Accounted for over 1,000 all-purpose yards as a halfback for the 1951 Red Raiders

Played in the 1952 North-South All-Star game

In 1975, named the Most Valuable Player on the Gulf South Conference All-Freshman team while playing for Troy State

In 1978, named to the All-Gulf South Conference team and selected honorable mention All-American team
